What it is about

Two questions that decide everything.

What do you stand for — and how does that become impact? The first is purpose, your drive. The second is your operating system: the levers that make you effective. When the two are disconnected, you get either unfulfilled intentions or well-organized busywork.

Strategy coaching is entirely about you. A proven approach that brings your personal potential and values into line with your development as a leader.

People whose judgment matters to you offer their perspective as a gift; we hold it up against your own. In an intensive one-on-one workshop at Lake Ammersee we sharpen your drive, your objectives and the levers with which you deliver on both. And we examine your leadership system — and work out how to make it better.

What you end up with is a compelling story, your personal narrative of the future, and a logbook with a concrete plan for execution — plus a leadership system that carries your decisions even when you are not in the room.

I work with no more than twelve to fifteen clients a year. That is not scarcity as a sales argument; it is the number at which I can give each of them my full attention and keep every case in my head.

A place that widens the view opens up new perspectives — and insights that can amount to a breakthrough. That is not scenery, it is a working condition.

The process

Five stages

  1. Preliminary conversationConfidential and without obligation. We clarify mutual expectations, the goal of working together — and whether I am the right person.
  2. Interviews with companionsConversations with people you select yourself: colleagues, supervisors, clients. Plus an in-depth interview with you. The result is a robust outside view alongside your own.
  3. Workshop at Lake AmmerseeA one-on-one day in Diessen: drive, narrative, personal positioning and levers. It ends with decisions and a concrete plan for execution.
  4. Expedition logbookYour documentation on a few pages: self-image, levers, narrative and the path for the years ahead. A document you will still pull out two years from now.
  5. Quarterly reviewsWe examine progress and priorities and adjust. Some clients need a single round; others I accompany over a longer period.

Where useful, we add focused workshops on individual levers — or sessions with your leadership team, if that is where the greatest challenge lies.

Leadership Quick Check

Twelve statements, about three minutes. You will see at once in which of four areas coaching can make the greatest difference for you — your answers are not stored. Please rate each statement as honestly as you can.

What it costs

Honestly: it depends.

The scope varies considerably — depending on how many interviews make sense, whether your leadership team is involved and how long we work together. So I won't quote a number here that turns out not to hold.

After the preliminary conversation you receive a proposal that reflects the actual scope. The preliminary conversation itself is free of charge.

The first step

Let's talk about your biggest challenge.

No sales pitch and no needs assessment — we go straight to the core. And if I don't have the sense that I can help you substantially, I'll say so. That is part of the work too.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about strategy coaching

What is strategy coaching?

Strategy coaching is about your positioning and your development as a leader. It is confidential work on two questions: what you stand for, and how that becomes impact. It combines personal clarity — drive, values, narrative — with the craft of leadership: levers of success, priorities and a leadership system that carries decisions. Unlike classic consulting, I do not deliver a solution; the content comes from you, the structure, the tools and the observations come from me. What helps me here is years of close work with many people in leadership roles.

How does strategy coaching at Lake Ammersee work?

In five stages: a confidential preliminary conversation without obligation, interviews with companions you select yourself, a one-on-one workshop in Diessen am Ammersee, documentation in your expedition logbook, and quarterly reviews. Some clients need a single round; others I accompany over a longer period.

Who is strategy coaching for?

For entrepreneurs, managing directors, board members, founders and division heads who want to set a new course. Typical occasions: a new and larger role, a transformation, bringing structure to daily leadership chaos, leading in keeping with your own values — or a strategy that never reaches execution.

How does strategy coaching differ from executive coaching?

My clients are executives, and the work is one-on-one. But I don't sell coaching packages, a method or a block of hours. The focus is not on improving leadership competencies but on clarifying your own direction — and the leadership system that follows from it. If you are looking for a standardized service, you will find it done better elsewhere.

How long does strategy coaching take?

The first phase takes between three and six weeks: a preliminary conversation, interviews with companions and with you, a one-day workshop and the documentation in your logbook. After that, reviews usually follow each quarter, for as long as they are useful. I do not set a fixed term, because needs differ — and because a commitment over months has no place at the start of working together. You can end the process at any time.

What does strategy coaching cost?

The scope varies considerably — depending on how many interviews make sense, whether your leadership team is involved and how long we work together. After the preliminary conversation you receive a proposal that reflects the actual scope. The preliminary conversation itself is free of charge.

Can my leadership team be involved?

Yes. Strategy coaching always centres on one leader and their effectiveness. If it turns out that a major challenge lies in how the leadership team aligns and communicates, we include the team as a lever — not as a separate programme, but as part of the same work. That can lead to individual conversations or to a joint workshop, depending on which form delivers the intended result.

Where does the strategy coaching take place?

The preliminary conversation and the interviews are usually held online. The positioning workshop takes place in Diessen am Ammersee, about an hour from Munich. On request it can happen elsewhere, but never at your workplace. The place is not a backdrop: a day beyond reach, in the right setting, changes how you think.
